Introduction
Jan travels around the world for work and pleasure. One day his camera got stolen in Paris so he decided to buy a sketchbook and continue by drawing his surroundings. This would save him money, wouldn’t get stolen and after all, it was only for him to see, he thought. Packed with only his old schoolbag and his sketchbook he continued his travels. He would create sketches on the spot of every interesting corner that would catch his eye. Inside the packed guesthouses and in the small streets he intrigued local residents. This way Jan could exchange his drawings for breakfast and a place to sleep. From Suriname to Wales to Papua New Guinea, each place carries its own architecture and faces. Every drawing is unique and tells you a different story.
This collection offers an exclusive insight into Jan’s travels, but also serves as a place to gather all the drawings that are still spread worldwide. For the curious spectator and for those who have met Jan during his travels. If you own any drawings or any sketchbooks of Jan, we kindly ask you to take a photo of it and send it to us by e-mail, so we can provide it back to this website and make the collection as complete as possible.
